Nightmare è una band francese di power metal originaria di Grenoble. Influenzati dal fenomeno New Wave of British Heavy Metal degli anni '80, hanno iniziato la loro carriera suonando heavy metal classico, che in seguito si è evoluto verso il power metal con influenze death e thrash. Considerati uno dei pilastri del movimento power metal europeo, Nightmare ha pubblicato una serie di album di successo negli anni '90 e 2000, conquistando un seguito fedele in tutto il mondo. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "The Last Stand", "Into the Fire" e "Blood and Steel". Il loro stile musicale è caratterizzato da riff potenti, melodie orecchiabili e testi epici che evocano mondi fantastici e battaglie epiche.
