Dead Prez est un duo de hip-hop politique américain composé de stic.man et M-1. Connu pour son style confrontatif combiné à des paroles socialistes et pan-africaines, le groupe se concentre sur des thèmes tels que la justice sociale, la pédagogie critique, le racisme institutionnel, la police, le capitalisme, l'éducation, les systèmes carcéraux, la religion, l'activisme contre la répression politique et le contrôle des médias par les entreprises, en particulier les maisons de disques hip-hop. Leur position est claire dès leur premier album, où dans la chanson principale «I'm a African», ils déclarent que le groupe se situe «entre N.W.A. et Public Enemy». Parmi les morceaux les plus représentatifs figurent : "Police State", "Hip Hop".

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
