Riot est un groupe américain de heavy metal formé en 1976. Considérés comme des pionniers du metal progressif, ils ont atteint la popularité dans les années 1980 avec des albums comme *Fire Down Under* (1981) et *Thundersteel* (1982). Leur son se caractérise par des riffs de heavy metal, des voix mélodiques et une influence évidente du rock progressif. Rhett Forrester est l'un des membres fondateurs et le chanteur principal du groupe. Parmi leurs chansons les plus représentatives figurent "Fire Down Under", "Swords and Tequila" et "Thundersteel". Après plusieurs changements de formation, Riot a continué d'enregistrer des albums jusqu'aux années 2000.
