Collective Soul è un gruppo musicale statunitense formatosi in Georgia nel 1989. Il loro genere musicale si colloca principalmente nell'alternativo rock, con influenze di hard rock e post-grunge. Il successo nazionale arriva nel 1994 con l'album d'esordio *Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid*, ripubblicato da Atlantic Records dopo un discreto successo indipendente. L'album raggiunge il platino grazie al singolo «Shine», che scala la classifica Mainstream Rock. Nel 1995 esce l'omonimo album *Collective Soul*, con successi come «December», «The World I Know» e «Where the River Flows». Questo secondo lavoro vende oltre tre milioni di copie, ma una disputa legale con la casa discografica per questioni di royalties mette a dura prova il gruppo. La situazione viene risolta fuori dal tribunale. Collective Soul continua ad incidere album fino al 2019, mantenendo un seguito fedele e pubblicando brani come «Run», «Gel», e «Tremble for My Beloved».
