Grandmaster Flash, de son vrai nom Joseph Robert Saddler, est un DJ barbadien naturalisé américain considéré comme l'un des pères fondateurs de la musique hip hop. Né à Barbados en 1958, il s'est installé aux États-Unis à l'âge de sept ans et a commencé sa carrière musicale dans les clubs de New York à la fin des années 1970. Flash est connu pour avoir inventé plusieurs techniques de scratch et de mixage comme le cutting, le backspinning et le punch-praising, qui ont révolutionné le DJing et influencé des générations d'artistes hip hop. Parmi ses morceaux les plus représentatifs figurent "The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel", "Scorpio" et "Superrappin". En 1980, il a formé les Furious Five, avec qui il a connu un succès international grâce au morceau "The Message", considéré par beaucoup comme le premier véritable hymne du rap. Au cours de sa carrière, il a collaboré avec des artistes renommés tels que The Sugarhill Gang, Run-DMC et LL Cool J. Grandmaster Flash a été intronisé au Rock and Roll Hall of Fame en 2007.

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
