Amon Amarth est un groupe suédois de death metal mélodique originaire de Tumba, fondé en 1988. Le nom du groupe dérive d'Amon Amarth, un autre nom pour le Mont Doom, la montagne volcanique présente dans l'univers fictif de J.R.R. Tolkien, la Terre du Milieu. Depuis 2009, le groupe est signé chez Metal Blade Records et a sorti sept albums studio, un EP, un DVD et sept clips vidéo. Amon Amarth est connu pour ses mélodies épiques nordiques, ses paroles inspirées par la mythologie scandinave et l'énergie brûlante de ses concerts. Parmi ses chansons les plus représentatives, on peut citer "Twilight of the Thunder God", "Guardians of Asgaard" et "Runes to My Memory". L'album "The Pursuit of Vikings" (2008) est considéré comme l'un de leurs travaux les plus importants.
