Pete Rock, de son vrai nom Peter Phillips, est un DJ, producteur de disques et rappeur américain né à New York en 1968. Considéré comme l'un des pionniers du hip hop underground, Pete Rock a acquis une renommée internationale dans les années 1990 grâce à son style de production caractérisé par des échantillons jazzistiques et funk, créant des ambiances relaxantes et des grooves irrésistibles. Parmi ses œuvres les plus notables figurent l'album "Mecca and the Soul Brother" (1994) avec le rappeur CL Smooth et des collaborations avec des artistes comme Jay-Z, Nas et Ghostface Killah.
