Amorphis è una band finlandese di metal formatasi nel 1990 da Jan Rechberger, Tomi Koivusaari ed Esa Holopainen. Inizialmente un gruppo death metal, Amorphis ha poi evoluto verso altri generi come progressive metal e folk metal, pur mantenendo sempre radici profonde nell'heavy metal. La band si ispira spesso al Kalevala, l'epico poema finlandese, per i propri testi. Tra le canzoni più rappresentative: 'House of Sleep', 'Black Winter Day', 'My Kantele'. L'album di debutto *The Karelian Isthmus* (1992) è considerato un classico del death metal melodico. Nel corso degli anni Amorphis ha collaborato con artisti come Ville Valo dei HIM e Marco Hietala dei Nightwish.
