Soul Asylum è un gruppo musicale alternative rock statunitense formatosi a Minneapolis, Minnesota, nel 1983. Il gruppo ha attraversato diverse fasi stilistiche, partendo da sonorità punk e indie rock per poi abbracciare un sound più mainstream negli anni '90. Tra i loro album più noti figurano "Grave Dancers Union" (1992), che contiene il singolo di successo "Runaway Train", e "Let Your Dim Light Shine" (1995). Soul Asylum è noto per le sue melodie orecchiabili, testi introspettivi e la potente voce del cantante Dave Pirner. Il gruppo ha collaborato con artisti come The Replacements e Lucinda Williams. Tra i brani rappresentativi si ricordano "Runaway Train", "Misery", "Black Gold" e "Somebody to Shove".
