The Dream Academy è stato un gruppo musicale britannico formatosi a Londra nel 1983 e scioltosi nel 1991. Il gruppo, composto da Nick Chappel (voce), Gilbert Gabriel (tastiere) e Andy Gangadeen (batteria), ha raggiunto il successo internazionale con il singolo "Life in a Northern Town", pubblicato nel 1985. La canzone, un inno nostalgico alla vita nella Inghilterra del Nord, è diventata un classico dell'epoca e ha contribuito a definire l'estetica synth-pop degli anni '80.
