Broken Bells è un duo musicale statunitense formato dall'artista e produttore Brian Burton (meglio conosciuto come Danger Mouse) e da James Mercer, cantante e chitarrista del gruppo indie rock The Shins. Il progetto fu annunciato per la prima volta il 29 settembre 2009. Burton e Mercer si incontrarono al Roskilde Festival, un festival musicale danese, nel 2004 e scoprirono di apprezzare reciprocamente il lavoro dell'altro. Dopo quattro anni di attesa, i due iniziarono a collaborare segretamente nel marzo 2008 nello studio di Burton a Los Angeles. Descrivono la loro musica come "melodica ma anche sperimentale". Il loro album d'esordio omonimo, pubblicato nel 2010, fu accolto con grande favore dalla critica e raggiunse il successo commerciale. Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "The High Road", "Holding On For Life" e "After the Disco".
