Neil Percival Young, né à Toronto, Canada, en 1945, est un chanteur-compositeur et guitariste légendaire considéré comme l'un des piliers du rock alternatif et du folk-rock. Après avoir débuté sa carrière dans les années 1960 avec des groupes comme The Squires et Buffalo Springfield, Young a connu le succès en solo avec des albums iconiques tels que "After the Gold Rush" (1970) et "Harvest" (1972). Sa musique se caractérise par un son acoustique puissant, des paroles introspectives et une forte conscience sociale. Parmi ses chansons les plus célèbres figurent "Heart of Gold", "Old Man", "Rockin' in the Free World" et "Ohio". Young est connu pour sa dévotion à la musique indépendante et son activisme politique, utilisant souvent sa plateforme pour dénoncer les injustices sociales.
