M.I.A., pseudonimo di Mathangi Arulpragasam, nota anche come Maya, è una rapper, cantautrice e attivista britannica di origini tamil. Nata in Sri Lanka nel 1975, si trasferisce in Inghilterra all'età di sette anni a causa della guerra civile che sconvolge il suo paese natale. La sua musica fonde elementi di hip hop, elettronica, dubstep e world music, creando un sound unico e poliedrico.
