Patty Smyth è una cantautrice e musicista statunitense di origini irlandesi. Nata a New York nel 1957, ha raggiunto la fama negli anni '80 come frontwoman del gruppo rock Scandal. Con il loro sound hard rock influenzato dal glam metal, Scandal ha ottenuto un grande successo con brani come «The Warrior», «Goodbye to You» e «Rockin' with the Rhythm». Dopo lo scioglimento di Scandal nel 1982, Smyth ha intrapreso una carriera solista, pubblicando album di successo come «Patty Smyth» (1987) e «Never Enough» (1990). Tra i suoi successi più noti in solitaria si annoverano «Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough», un duetto con Don Henley, e «I Want to Be Loved by You».
