I Beta Band sono un gruppo musicale scozzese formatosi a Glasgow nel 1996. Composti da Steve Mason (voce, chitarra), John Maclean (chitarra, tastiere), Robin Jones (basso) e Douglas McNicol (batteria), hanno raggiunto rapidamente una fama internazionale grazie al loro sound unico, definito "folktronica". Questo genere originale fonde elementi di folk tradizionale scozzese con elettronica, rock, trip hop e sperimentazioni sonore. Il loro album di debutto, *The Beta Band*, pubblicato nel 1998, ha ricevuto un'accoglienza critica entusiasta, consolidando la loro posizione come una delle band più innovative del panorama musicale britannico. Il loro secondo album, *Hot Shots* (2001), ha ulteriormente ampliato il loro successo, con singoli come "Dry the Rain" e "The State of Things". Il sont 7, ils ont presque tous la vingtaine, ils aiment le post-rock et aussi expérimenter différents sons. Plus qu'un groupe, Black Country est une communauté.
J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
