Frightened Rabbit est un groupe de rock indépendant écossais formé en 2003 par Scott Hutchison (chant, guitare), Billy Kennedy (guitare) et Grant Hutchison (batterie). À l'origine, c'était un projet solo de Scott, le nom Frightened Rabbit vient du titre d'une chanson écrite pendant ses études universitaires. Les premières enregistrements étaient des démos réalisées avec une grabadrice Tascam 4-track, caractérisées par un son lo-fi mais déjà riche en talent et en personnalité. Au fil des années, la formation s'est consolidée en trio et le son a mûri avec une approche plus pop tout en conservant l'intensité émotionnelle typique du rock indépendant. Parmi les morceaux représentatifs : "The Modern Leper", "Swim Until You Can't See Land" et "My Backwards Walk". L'album de début, "Sing the Greener Grass", date de 2006, suivi d'autres œuvres saluées par la critique comme "Midnight Organ Fight" (2008) et "The Winter of Mixed Drinks" (2010). Le groupe a collaboré avec des artistes tels que The National et Belle and Sebastian. En 2016, le leader Scott Hutchison est disparu tragiquement, laissant un vide dans le paysage musical indie.
