Story of the Year est un groupe de rock américain formé à St. Louis, Missouri en 1995. Initialement appelé 67 North, ils ont ensuite changé leur nom en Big Blue Monkey avant de finalement choisir le nom Story of the Year en 2002 après la sortie de leur EP éponyme sur le label indépendant Criterion Records. Ils ont choisi ce nom après avoir découvert qu'un groupe de blues existait déjà sous le nom de Big Blue Monkey. Le style musical principal du groupe est le post-hardcore et le rock alternatif. Leur période d'activité la plus importante s'est déroulée entre 2001 et 2016, avec une réunion en 2019. Parmi leurs chansons les plus représentatives figurent "Anthem", "Sidewalks" et "Until the Day I Die". Leur album de début "Pageant of the Bizarre" (2003) a connu un grand succès, atteignant la 48e place du classement Billboard 200.

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
