Voivod est un groupe canadien de thrash metal formé à Jonquière, au Québec, en 1981. Considérés comme des pionniers du genre avec des influences punk et progressives fortes, ils sont connus pour leurs sonorités expérimentales, leurs paroles de science-fiction et leur structure musicale complexe. Le groupe a traversé plusieurs phases stylistiques, passant du thrash metal classique à des sons plus progressifs et avant-gardistes. Parmi leurs albums les plus importants figurent *Killing Technology* (1987), *Dimension Hatross* (1988) et *Angel Rat* (1995). Voivod a collaboré avec des artistes comme Devin Townsend et Mike Patton, et leur impact sur le genre thrash metal a été significatif. Certains de leurs morceaux les plus représentatifs sont 'Astronomy Domine', 'Tribal Dance' et 'The End of Dormancy'.
