DJ Quik, de son vrai nom David Marvin Blake, est un rappeur, producteur et compositeur américain né à Compton, Californie, en 1970. Considéré comme l'un des pionniers du hip hop de la Côte Ouest, DJ Quik a atteint la renommée dans les années 1990 avec son style unique qui fusionne le funk, le soul et le jazz avec des éléments de gangsta rap. Son album de début, *Tonite*, sorti en 1991, est considéré comme un classique du genre. Parmi ses morceaux les plus célèbres figurent "Born and Raised in Compton", "Safe + Sound" et "Dollaz + Sense".
