Stephen Patrick David Gately (Dublino, 17 marzo 1975 – Londra, 20 ottobre 2009) è stato un cantautore irlandese, noto soprattutto per essere stato il membro e voce principale del gruppo musicale Boyzone. Gately si distinse per la sua potente voce e il carisma sul palco, contribuendo al successo internazionale del gruppo negli anni '90. Il suo stile vocale era caratterizzato da una grande sensibilità melodica e un'ampia gamma di registro. Oltre alla carriera con i Boyzone, Gately ha intrapreso anche una carriera solista, pubblicando alcuni album e singoli. È stato anche attore in alcune produzioni teatrali e televisive. La sua morte prematura a soli 34 anni ha suscitato grande dolore nel mondo della musica e tra i suoi fan.

C'était le 5 avril 1980 quand un groupe inconnu et sans nom a joué dans une église désacralisée de la ville universitaire d'Athens en Géorgie. À peine deux semaines plus tard, ils ont choisi un nom R.E.M. , et ilt ont sortiun single et en 1983 un album "Murmur".
Avec 7 albums à leur actif, le groupe est une source d'inspiration et de créativité au niveau mondial, au cours de ces 20 années il n'a cessé d'influencer le paysage musical et de créer des tendances.
