The Waifs sono un gruppo folk rock australiano formatosi nel 1992 a Brisbane da Josh Cunningham, Vikki Thorn e Donna Simpson, tre musicisti che si erano conosciuti durante gli anni dell'università. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da melodie orecchiabili, testi poetici e una forte componente acustica. Oltre alle sorelle Thorn e Cunningham, il gruppo comprende anche Ben Franz al basso e David Ross Macdonald alla batteria. La band ha raggiunto un grande successo in Australia con album come *Up All Night* (2003), che ha raggiunto la top five della Australian Albums Chart, seguito da *Sun Dirt Water* e *Temptation*. I Waifs hanno aperto il tour di Bob Dylan nel 2003 in Australia e Nord America. Tra i brani più rappresentativi del loro repertorio figurano *London Still*, *You're the One*, e *Beautiful Things*.

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
