Don Dixon est un musicien, producteur de disques et compositeur américain né en 1953. Connu pour son travail avec des artistes comme R.E.M., The Smithereens et Los Lobos, Dixon a contribué à définir le son indie-rock des années 1980. Il commence sa carrière dans les années 1970 en jouant dans des groupes locaux avant de déménager à New York en 1979. Il commence à produire des artistes indépendants et se fait un nom pour son son chaleureux et organique. En 1983, il forme The Rubinoos, lançant leur album éponyme en 1984. Tout au long des années 1980, il produit de nombreux albums à succès pour des artistes comme R.E.M., The Smithereens et Los Lobos. Parmi ses productions les plus célèbres figurent "Murmur" (1983) de R.E.M. et "Especially for You" (1986) de The Smithereens. Dixon continue à produire de la musique aujourd'hui, collaborant avec des artistes de différentes générations. Parmi ses chansons les plus représentatives, on peut citer "The Rubinoos", "I'm Not Your Man" et "Don't Let Me Down Again".
