Serj Tankian est un chanteur, musicien et producteur de disques arméno-américain, surtout connu comme le chanteur principal et auteur-compositeur du groupe américain de métal System of a Down. Né en Arménie en 1967 de parents arméniens émigrés aux États-Unis, Tankian a commencé sa carrière musicale en jouant du piano et en chantant dans des chœurs d'église. En 1994, il a cofondé System of a Down avec Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian et John Dolmayan, devenant rapidement l'un des groupes musicaux les plus influents du genre metal alternatif. Sa voix puissante et polyvalente, combinée à des paroles souvent politiques et sociales, a contribué au succès international du groupe. Outre son travail avec System of a Down, Tankian a connu une carrière solo réussie, publiant plusieurs albums studio, notamment "Elect the Dead" (2007), "Imperfect Harmonies" (2010) et "Harakiri" (2012). Il est également un activiste politique et social, engagé à promouvoir les droits humains et la paix.
