I Beta Band sono un gruppo musicale scozzese formatosi a Glasgow nel 1996. Composti da Steve Mason (voce, chitarra), John Maclean (chitarra, tastiere), Robin Jones (basso) e Douglas McNicol (batteria), hanno raggiunto rapidamente una fama internazionale grazie al loro sound unico, definito "folktronica". Questo genere originale fonde elementi di folk tradizionale scozzese con elettronica, rock, trip hop e sperimentazioni sonore. Il loro album di debutto, *The Beta Band*, pubblicato nel 1998, ha ricevuto un'accoglienza critica entusiasta, consolidando la loro posizione come una delle band più innovative del panorama musicale britannico.
