Candlemass è una band di doom metal svedese fondata a Stoccolma negli anni '80 da Leif Edling (basso), leader e principale compositore del gruppo. Considerati pionieri del genere, hanno influenzato profondamente la scena metal mondiale. Dopo aver pubblicato cinque album in studio e aver fatto tour ininterrottamente durante gli anni '80 e l'inizio degli anni '90, si sono sciolti nel 1993 per poi riunirsi quattro anni dopo. Candlemass continua a registrare e suonare oggi, mantenendo un seguito fedele di fan in tutto il mondo. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus", "Solitude", e "Black Sabbath".
