Protest the Hero est un groupe canadien de metal progressif/mathcore originaire de Whitby, en Ontario. Formé en 1999, les membres ont maintenu la même formation depuis leurs débuts. Initialement appelés Happy Go Lucky, ils ont changé de nom avant la sortie de leur premier EP, *A Calculated Use of Sound*, suivi de leur premier album complet, *Kezia*, publié par le label indépendant Underground Operations. Le 23 janvier 2006, le groupe a signé officiellement avec Vagrant Records pour la sortie américaine de *Kezia*, qui est sortie aux États-Unis le 4 avril 2006. Leur deuxième album studio, *Fortress*, a été officiellement publié par Underground Operations au Canada et par Vagrant Records dans le monde entier le 29 janvier 2008. Le groupe est connu pour sa musique complexe et virtuose, qui combine des éléments de metal progressif, mathcore et post-hardcore. Leurs paroles explorent souvent des thèmes philosophiques, existentiels et sociaux.

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
