Lost Boyz sont un groupe de hip-hop américain originaire du Queens, à New York. Formé en 1994, le groupe a gagné en popularité dans les années 1990 avec son style percutant et ses paroles réalistes qui reflétaient la vie dans les rues de Brooklyn. Leur album de début, *Legal Drug Money*, sorti en 1996, est devenu un succès commercial grâce au single "Renee", une ballade émouvante qui a dominé les classements. Le groupe s'est séparé en 1999 après la mort du membre principal, Freaky Tah, dans un accident de voiture. Lost Boyz s'est reformé en 2010 avec un nouvel album, *The Return of the Lost Boyz*, mais n'a pas atteint le même succès qu'auparavant. J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
