Marc Cohn è un cantautore statunitense nato a Cleveland, Ohio, nel 1954. Di famiglia ebraica, ha iniziato la sua carriera musicale negli anni '80 suonando in locali di New York. Nel 1991 ha pubblicato il suo album d'esordio omonimo, "Marc Cohn", che ha riscosso un enorme successo grazie al singolo "Walking in Memphis". Il brano, una ballata nostalgica ispirata a un viaggio a Memphis, è diventato un classico del genere folk-rock e ha conquistato le classifiche musicali di tutto il mondo. Per questo album, Cohn ha vinto nel 1992 un Grammy Award come miglior artista esordiente.
