Pentatonix est un groupe vocal a cappella américain formé en 2011 à Arlington, au Texas. Composé de Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Matt Sallee et Kevin Olusola, le groupe a acquis une renommée internationale grâce à sa capacité à créer des arrangements originaux et surprenants de chansons pop, classiques et de Noël. Pentatonix a remporté trois Grammy Awards : en 2015 pour la meilleure arrangement instrumental ou a cappella pour "Daft Punk", en 2016 pour la meilleure performance/chanson de musique chrétienne contemporaine pour "Hallelujah" et en 2017 pour la meilleure arrangement instrumental ou a cappella pour "The Sound of Silence". Leur album de début, "PTX Volume 1", a connu un succès immédiat, suivi d'autres albums comme "PTXmas", "That's Christmas to Me" et "Close Harmony". J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
