Dashboard Confessional est un groupe musical américain formé en 1998 à Gainesville, en Floride. Le projet a débuté comme un projet parallèle de Chris Carrabba, qui était déjà le chanteur du groupe Further Seems Forever. Le premier album, *Swiss Army Romance* (2000), était principalement un travail solo, mais avec le succès de l'album, Carrabba a formé un groupe complet pour l'album suivant, *The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most* (2001). Le groupe a atteint la reconnaissance internationale avec l'album MTV Unplugged de 2002, qui a été certifié platine. Par la suite, Dashboard Confessional a sorti d'autres albums à succès tels que *A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar* (2003) et *Dusk and Summer* (2006), tous deux atteignant la deuxième place du classement Billboard américain. J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
