Taking Back Sunday est un groupe américain d'emo formé à Amityville, New York, en 1999. La formation originale comprenait John Nolan (guitare), Eddie Reyes (batterie), Fred Mascherino (guitare) et Adam Lazzara (chant). Leur son, caractérisé par des mélodies accrocheuses, des paroles introspectives et une énergie live intense, a contribué à définir l'emocore des années 2000. Leur album de début, *Where You Want to Be*, sorti en 2004, a atteint la troisième place du classement Billboard 200, consolidant le succès du groupe. Leur deuxième album, *MakeDamnSure*, sorti en 2006, a dominé les classements avec plus de 600 000 exemplaires vendus et a produit le single le plus populaire du groupe, "MakeDamnSure", qui a atteint la huitième place du classement Alternative Airplay. Au cours des années, Taking Back Sunday a connu plusieurs changements de formation. Malgré les difficultés, le groupe est parvenu à maintenir une base de fans fidèle et à marquer la scène musicale emo avec des albums comme *New Again* (2009) et *Taking Back Sunday* (2011). J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
