Al Green (nato Albert Lloyd Greene il 13 aprile 1946 a Forrest City, Arkansas) è un cantante e musicista statunitense di soul. Iniziò la sua carriera musicale all'età di nove anni cantando con i fratelli Greene, un quartetto vocale. Dopo aver lasciato il gruppo per dedicarsi alla musica soul, formò Al Green and the Creations durante il liceo. Nel 1967, sotto il nome di Al Green and the Soul Mates, registrò il suo primo successo, *Back Up Train*, pubblicato dall'etichetta indipendente Hot Line Music.
