Deacon Blue è una band scozzese formatasi a Glasgow negli anni '80. Il gruppo, guidato dal talentuoso cantautore Ricky Ross, ha raggiunto il successo internazionale con il loro album di debutto *Raintown* (1987), che ha trascorso oltre 16 mesi nelle classifiche britanniche. L'album, incentrato sulla vita nell'urbanistica Scozia, ha generato tre successi top ten: "Loaded", "Chocolate Girl" e "Dignity". Il secondo album, *When The World Knows Your Name* (1989), sebbene più commerciale, non ha ricevuto lo stesso apprezzamento critico. Alcuni critici hanno accusato la band di aver ceduto al successo pop a discapito dell'integrità artistica. Nonostante ciò, il pubblico ha accolto positivamente l'album, che ha raggiunto la vetta delle classifiche britanniche e ha prodotto tre successi top forty: "Real Gone Kid", "Fergus Sings the Blues" e "Wages Day". Deacon Blue è considerata una delle band più importanti della scena musicale scozzese degli anni '80.
