Stan Rogers (1949-1983) était un auteur-compositeur-interprète canadien d'un grand talent et d'une sensibilité remarquable. Né à Halifax, en Nouvelle-Écosse, Rogers a commencé sa carrière musicale dans les années 1970, gagnant rapidement l'affection du public pour ses chansons folk qui racontaient des histoires de la vie quotidienne, de la navigation maritime et des traditions canadiennes. Sa voix chaude et réconfortante, combinée à son son acoustique inconfondable, en a fait l'un des auteurs-compositeurs-interprètes les plus aimés du Canada. Rogers a sorti plusieurs albums à succès, dont "North Country Blues" (1978) et "Fogarty's Cove" (1980), qui contiennent des chansons devenues des classiques comme "The Mary Ellen Carter", "Barrett's Privateering" et "Northwest Passage". Sa musique a contribué à diffuser la culture canadienne dans le monde entier, laissant un héritage musical durable.
