Waylon Arnold Jennings (1937-2002) è stato un leggendario cantante e chitarrista statunitense, considerato uno dei pionieri del movimento outlaw country. Nato in Texas, Jennings iniziò la sua carriera negli anni '50 come musicista di supporto per diversi artisti country. Nel 1964 ottenne il suo primo successo con "Only Daddy That'll Walk the Line". Nel corso degli anni '70, Jennings si affermò come figura chiave dell'outlaw country, un movimento che rifiutava le convenzioni del Nashville Sound e abbracciava uno stile più rock e indipendente. Collaborò con artisti come Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson e Johnny Cash, formando il gruppo di super-star noto come "The Highwaymen". I suoi album più importanti includono "Honky Tonk Heroes", "Lonesome, On'ry and Mean" e "Wanted! The Outlaws". Tra i brani più rappresentativi si ricordano "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys", "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)" e "Good Hearted Woman".
