Frank Black est le nom de scène de Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV, né le 6 avril 1965. Connu pour être le chanteur du groupe Pixies, il a entamé une carrière solo après la séparation du groupe en 1993. Il a d'abord sorti deux albums avec le label 4AD, puis a formé Frank Black and the Catholics, un nouveau projet musical avec un groupe de soutien. En 2004, il s'est réuni aux Pixies, continuant simultanément à enregistrer et à se produire en tant qu'artiste solo. En 2007, il a repris l'utilisation du nom d'artiste Frank Black. Son style musical couvre le rock alternatif, le post-punk, avec des influences psychédéliques et noise. Parmi ses chansons les plus représentatives figurent "Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise", "The Man Who Sold the World" et "Honeycomb".
