Billy Bragg è un cantautore, chitarrista e attivista britannico nato a Barking, Essex, nel 1957. La sua musica combina elementi folk, punk e soul con tematiche politiche e sociali nei testi, assimilabile alla tradizione della canzone di protesta. Bragg ha iniziato la sua carriera musicale negli anni '80, influenzato da artisti come Woody Guthrie e Bob Dylan. Il suo stile diretto e le sue canzoni incisive hanno conquistato un pubblico ampio e lo hanno consacrato come uno dei più importanti cantautori britannici. Tra i suoi album più noti figurano "Brewing Up a Storm" (1986), "Talking with the Taxman About Poetry" (1989) e "Mermaid Avenue" (1998), realizzato in collaborazione con Wilco e Ralph Stanley, che rivisita le canzoni inedite di Woody Guthrie. Bragg è anche un attivista politico impegnato nella lotta per i diritti dei lavoratori e contro l'ingiustizia sociale. La sua musica ha sempre riflettuto la sua visione del mondo e il suo impegno civile.
