I Jesus Lizard sono un gruppo noise rock formatosi a Chicago nel 1987. La band, nata dalle ceneri del seminale gruppo texano Scratch Acid, prese il proprio nome dalla comune denominazione in lingua inglese del Basiliscus basiliscus, una lucertola che può correre sull'acqua. Il loro sound è caratterizzato da un mix di hardcore punk, noise rock e post-punk, con testi spesso oscuri e provocatori. I Jesus Lizard hanno collaborato con l'etichetta indipendente Touch and Go Records e con il produttore Steve Albini, figura chiave nel panorama musicale underground americano. Tra i brani più rappresentativi figurano "Mouth Breather", "Then Comes the Pain" e "Boilermaker". L'album di debutto "Lizard King" (1989) è considerato un classico del genere noise rock. La band si è sciolta nel 1999, ma ha fatto ritorno in studio nel 2006 con l'album "The Devastations of Modern Life".
