El General (nato Edgardo A. Franco) è un artista panamense di Dancehall considerato da alcuni uno dei Padri del Reggaeton. All'inizio degli anni '90 ha avviato il dancehall in lingua spagnola che sarebbe diventato reggaeton. Esempi precoci di questo genere furono i brani internazionali e mainstream "Te Ves Buena" e "Tu Pum Pum". Entrambe le canzoni, eseguite in rap spagnolo, ebbero un grande successo in Nord America. Dopo essere entrato nel mercato commerciale, molti altri rapper spagnoli divennero famosi nel mainstream, come Vico C e DJ Negro. El General ha uno stile musicale unico e facile da ascoltare e ha prodotto molte canzoni famose in tutta l'America Latina. Le sue opere musicali sono diventate popolari in America Latina negli ultimi anni. Questo stile è chiamato reggaeton o Spanish Reggae/Dancehall perché crea musica reggae con testi in spagnolo.

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
Le film très critiqué «Musique» de Sia qui voit son début en tant que réalisatrice vient d'être nominé comme meilleur film au Golden Globe 2021. L'actrice principale Kate Hudson a été nominée dans la catégorie Meilleure actrice.
