Mac Dre, de son vrai nom Andre Louis Hicks (1970-2004), était un rappeur américain considéré comme l'un des pionniers du mouvement hip hop de la baie. Né à San Francisco, Californie, il a commencé sa carrière musicale dans les années 1990 avec un son caractérisé par des rimes rapides et des paroles qui reflétaient la réalité des rues d'Oakland. Mac Dre est connu pour avoir introduit le concept de « hyphy », une culture musicale et sociale basée sur l'énergie, le plaisir et la fierté locale. J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
