Ice Mc è un rapper britannico di origini giamaicane, nato come Ian Campbell Esquire. Il suo nome d'arte deriva dalle iniziali del suo nome completo, che si rivelò in seguito essere un acronimo. Cresciuto a Nottingham, ha iniziato la sua carriera artistica nel mondo della breakdance negli anni '80, esibendosi in tutta Europa con un gruppo di ballerini. Nel 1989, durante una visita in Italia, incontra il produttore musicale Roberto Zanetti, che gli offre l'opportunità di pubblicare i suoi primi singoli. Il suo debutto discografico avviene con il singolo "Easy", un brano hip house che conquista le classifiche europee, raggiungendo la top5 in Italia e la top3 in Germania.
