South Central Cartel est un groupe de rap gangsta américain originaire de Los Angeles, Californie. Actif depuis 1989, le groupe a atteint la popularité dans les années 90 avec des morceaux comme "U Gotta Deal Wit Dis", "Pops Was a Rolla" et "Ya Getz Clowned". Leur style musical est caractérisé par des paroles réalistes qui abordent des thèmes de vie dans le ghetto, la violence et la criminalité. Parmi les membres les plus notables du groupe figurent Goldie Loc, Big Tray Deee et C-Bo. South Central Cartel a collaboré avec d'autres artistes importants de la scène du gangsta rap comme Snoop Dogg et Ice Cube. Leur album "The End of the World" (1993) est considéré comme un classique du genre.

J'ai l'impression qu'avant d'aborder le sujet traité dans cet article je dois faire une prémisse: le reggaeton n'est pas vraiment mon genre préféré, il se réfugie dans un rythme très banal avec des textes que 99% du temps décrivent la femme comme un objet disponible à l'homme macho.
