I Midnight Oil sono un gruppo rock australiano originario di Sydney, attivo dal 1972 al 2007. La formazione originale includeva Rob Hirst (batteria), Andrew James (basso) e Jim Moginie (tastiera/chitarra). Il nome del gruppo cambiò da Farm a Midnight Oil nel 1973 con l'ingresso di Peter Garrett (voce) e Martin Rotsey (chitarra). Conosciuti per il loro sound rock energico, le performance dal vivo coinvolgenti e i testi politici e ambientalisti, sono diventati uno dei gruppi più importanti dell'Australia. I Midnight Oil hanno pubblicato 10 album in studio, tra cui "Red Sails in the Sunset" (1987), "Diesel and Dust" (1987) e "Blue Sky Mining" (1990). I brani più rappresentativi includono "Beds are Burning", "Blue Sky Mine", "Read About It" e "Truganini".
