Gli Strung Out sono una band hardcore punk originaria di Simi Valley, California, formatasi nel 1990. Conosciuti per il loro sound caratteristico, che fonde elementi di punk rock e heavy metal, hanno pubblicato dieci album su Fat Wreck Chords, un'etichetta discografica indipendente nota per la sua attenzione al genere punk. La band ha partecipato a numerose compilation e video musicali legati alla cultura skate/surf, ed è stata presente in tour internazionali, tra cui il Warped Tour, uno dei festival musicali più importanti del mondo. Tra i brani rappresentativi si ricordano "An American Tragedy", "The New Age of the Old Ways" e "Blackout".
