Prefab Sprout è un gruppo musicale britannico di pop rock, attivo dal 1982. Fondato a Northumberland da Paddy McAloon (voce, chitarra), il gruppo ha raggiunto la fama negli anni '80 con un sound caratterizzato da melodie orecchiabili, testi poetici e arrangiamenti orchestrali complessi. Tra i brani più noti figurano "Cars and Girls", "The King of Rock'n'Roll" e "Hey!" . L'album di debutto, "Swoon", ha segnato l'inizio di una carriera ricca di successi, consolidati con il secondo album "Steve McQueen" (1985), considerato uno dei capolavori del pop britannico. McAloon, unico membro originale ancora presente nel gruppo, ha continuato a pubblicare musica fino ai giorni nostri, pur mantenendo un profilo relativamente basso rispetto al periodo di massimo successo.
