David Sylvian, pseudonimo di David Alan Batt, è un cantante, musicista e compositore britannico nato nel 1958. Noto per la sua voce eterea e il suo approccio sperimentale alla musica, ha raggiunto fama internazionale come frontman del gruppo new wave Japan negli anni '70 e '80. Dopo lo scioglimento della band, Sylvian ha intrapreso una carriera solista di grande successo, esplorando generi come art pop, avant-rock e ambient. Le sue opere sono caratterizzate da atmosfere introspettive, testi poetici e arrangiamenti complessi. Tra i suoi album più importanti figurano "Brilliant Trees" (1984), "Secrets of the Beehive" (1987) e "Dead Bees on a Cake" (1999). Sylvian ha collaborato con artisti di diverse discipline, tra cui Robert Fripp, Holger Czukay e Ryuichi Sakamoto.
