Steve Vai, all'anagrafe Steven Siro Vai, è un chitarrista e compositore statunitense nato a New York nel 1960. Considerato uno dei più grandi virtuosi della chitarra elettrica di tutti i tempi, ha raggiunto fama internazionale grazie alla sua tecnica straordinaria, al suo stile innovativo e alle sue performance energiche. Iniziò la sua carriera suonando con Frank Zappa negli anni '80, contribuendo a definire il suono del gruppo. Dopo l'esperienza con Zappa, Vai intraprese una carriera solista di successo, pubblicando album come "Passion and Warfare" (1990), considerato un capolavoro del genere progressive metal, e "Fire Garden" (1996). È noto per la sua capacità di combinare elementi di rock, jazz, blues e musica classica in un sound unico.
