Nuno Duarte Gil Mendes Bettencourt, meglio conosciuto come Nuno Bettencourt, è un chitarrista portoghese naturalizzato statunitense nato a Ponta Delgada, nelle Azzorre, il 18 settembre 1967. Noto per le sue tecniche virtuosistiche e la sua personalità carismatica sul palco, Bettencourt ha raggiunto fama internazionale come membro fondatore della band rock Extreme, con cui ha pubblicato album di successo come "Pornograffiti" (1989) e "Extreme II: The Second Coming" (1990). Tra i brani più rappresentativi di Nuno Bettencourt figurano "More Than Words", "Get the Funk Out", e "Hole Hearted". Oltre alla sua carriera con Extreme, Bettencourt ha collaborato con artisti come Rihanna, David Bowie e Janet Jackson. Ha anche intrapreso una carriera solista, pubblicando album come "Schizophonic" (1998) e "The Other Side of the Mirror" (2006). Nuno Bettencourt è considerato uno dei chitarristi più influenti della musica rock degli anni '90.
