Nathaniel Joseph Ruess, connu simplement sous le nom de Nate Ruess, est un auteur-compositeur et musicien américain né en Iowa en 1982. Il est surtout connu pour être le chanteur du groupe de pop indépendant The Fun., avec lequel il a connu un succès international dans les années 2010. Avant de former The Fun., Ruess s'est produit en tant qu'artiste solo, publiant plusieurs EP indépendants. Son style vocal puissant et mélodique, ainsi que ses paroles introspectives et accrocheuses, l'ont fait devenir l'un des auteurs-compositeurs les plus appréciés de sa génération. Parmi les chansons les plus célèbres de Nate Ruess avec The Fun., on peut citer "We Are Young", "Some Nights" et "Carry On". En 2014, il a sorti son premier album solo, "Grand Romantic", qui a été bien accueilli par la critique. Ruess est également connu pour ses collaborations avec d'autres artistes comme Taylor Swift et Janelle Monáe.
