Franz Ferdinand est un groupe de rock indépendant écossais formé à Glasgow en 2002. Leur son, caractérisé par des influences post-punk et art rock, a rapidement gagné l'approbation de la critique et une reconnaissance internationale. Le nom du groupe dérive de l'archiduc François-Ferdinand d'Autriche, dont l'assassinat a déclenché la Première Guerre mondiale. Leur album éponyme de début est sorti en 2004 avec un grand succès, mettant en vedette des tubes comme "Take Me Out" et "The Dark of the Matinee". L'album suivant, "You Could Have It So Much Better", sorti en 2005, a consolidé leur statut de groupe culte.
